Communities & Schools Initiatives
School Facilities

The School of Environmental Studies (SES) is located on the grounds of its major community partner, the Minnesota Zoo. SES opened in 1995, and in 1999 was named a "New American High School" by the U.S. Department of Education because of its new, innovative approach to learning. Through this virtual visit, you will experience the dynamic educational program offered at a small school created on the site of a community partner. KnowledgeWorks Foundation hopes this visit to SES will inspire those that are planning new schools and new facilities.
