EdWorks was created to build a scalable model for high school reform based on lessons learned through KnowledgeWorks’ Ohio High School Transformation Initiative and Early College work. EdWorks has developed and refined these school improvement models, partnering with school districts and high schools to provide rigorous curriculum and instruction, supportive school climate and culture, aligned assessments, and comprehensive student support. EdWorks’ model includes tools and strategies to support schools and districts through every step of one of three strands – high school redesign, Early College High Schools, or STEM schools – or combination of strands. The EdWorks model is driven by a Results Framework that defines a college and career-ready course of study, as well as 21st century teaching practice and leadership strategies. The model achieves its goals through a five-year, step-by-step system of strategies, processes, and tools in the areas of: - Rigorous Curriculum & Instruction,
- Alignment of Assessments with Curriculum and Instruction,
- Supportive Climate & Culture, and
- Comprehensive Student Support System.
EdWorks tailors strategies to meet the needs specific schools, and advises on implementation through on-site technical assistance.
